Bob and I have been working hard to finish up our project. I worked several days this week to get the ball elevator working smoothly, while Bob worked on a lot of the details. Just a few more embellishments to add and we’re done.
I’m please with the way it turned out. All the runs work well, that is except for the occasional “runaway”. Chimes were added, so in addition to the clack, clack of the balls dropping from level to level, we get some nice melodic “dings” along the way.
We still have a few finials to add, but Bob finished and installed all the medallions. We’ve both been working on the finials Bob designed and Bob is adding metal leafing to several of the bigger decorations.
Our only problem now is that you can turn the crank pretty fast and get about 20 balls rolling at once, which overwhelms things a bit. We’re going to add a sign that says “Turn the crank slowly”, to ensure an even pace through all the elements. It’s really fun though seeing balls running in different directions all around you.
Elves must come during the night since every morning when I arrive there is another nice added.
Oceans of sails, fire clouds, gongs, a string of coffins, a glass lake, a kitchen in relief and a lot more have appeared this week.
Come check it out at Everbank Plaza, 501 Riverside Ave. May 19 for our opening reception from 5-8. We’ll also be open for the following week.
